Here at Karrot, community spirit and safety is one of our fundamental values. In response to the recent developments with COVID-19, we want to keep you up to date on the action we’re taking to protect our users and our communities.
Posts related to COVID-19
We believe we have the responsibility to protect our communities. We take misinformation and exploitation of the current health emergency very seriously and are taking action to prevent it. Items such as toilet paper, hand sanitisers, mask, etc. with inflated prices will be removed, as well as those spreading misinformation. We ask users to continue to flag these posts to the Customer Service Team.
Staying safe & informed
We recommend following the advice from trusted sources such as the NHS, the World Health Organisation and the government. Sharing facts and advice can help to keep you and your loved ones safe. When using social media, be mindful that this may be a frightening and isolating time for many. Try not to spread unfounded rumours that may cause upset or panic.
What can I do to help?
Here are some simple steps that you can take to help,
- Communicate - Isolation can be lonely and impact mental health. Call or text your neighbours, friends & family to check in on them. The government has announced that everyone over the age of 70 could be asked to self-isolate at home for up to four months to protect them from the ongoing outbreak. If possible, make sure your elderly and vulnerable neighbours have everything they need.
- Donate food products - Support those in need who have been affected by COVID-19. Food banks are seeing a decline in donations and, as a result, are unable to keep up with demand in the coming weeks. You can check here for items that are needed the most at your local food bank.
- Donate to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund which help countries prevent, detect, and manage the novel coronavirus – particularly those where the needs are the greatest.
